7-year-old epileptic raped at healer’s place

CHIPINGE – Police in Manicaland are looking for Nickson Simango (37) who allegedly raped a seven-year-old girl who had come to stay at the former’s place where she was being treated for epilepsy.
The incident happened at Mabeure Village under Chief Mapungwana in Chipinge between May and June this year.
Manicaland provincial Police spokesperson Nobert Muzondo confirmed the incident to Chipinge Times and said Simango is at large.
Sources said that the girl was taken to a self-proclaimed religious healer known as Mai Bhati and left in her care for a month. Simango is a brother to Mai Bhati and resides at her place.


Simango took advantage of Mai Bhati’s absence and allegedly raped the girl twice. On July 15, the girl’s parents took their daughter back after Mai Bhati discharged her after a ‘successful’ healing process.
The matter came to light on July 22 when the girl complained of vaginal pains. Her mother quizzed her and that is when she revealed that she was sexually abused by Simango.


A police report was made but Simango could not be located.
