Chivi man in court for abusing deaf wife

MASVINGO-Chivi Magistrate Caroline Tafirayoni has postponed the trial of a man accused of constantly assaulting his deaf wife for the court to bring a sign language interpreter.
Magistrate Tafiranyoni remanded Straightford Chindume in custody until July 12, 2023.
He is facing physical abuse and domestic violence charges for abusing his wife with a hearing disability Faith Virima (38).
Circumstances are that on June 2, 2023, at Rungwane Village under Headman Chipindu, Chindume severely assaulted Virima over an undisclosed matter.
Virima’s parents took her and reported the matter to the Police leading to Chindume’s arrest.
Court documents seen by The Mirror state that Chindume has a history of abusing his wife.
