Dangamvura man stabs wife to death over infidelity

MUTARE – Police in Mutare are looking for Taurai Mukono (48) of Dangamvura in Mutare who allegedly stabbed his wife four times with a spear after accusing her of infidelity.
The couple’s children watched the cold-blooded murder and Mukono is on the run.
The incident happened at around 7pm on Sunday this week and Manicaland Provincial Police spokesperson Inspector Nobert Muzondo has confirmed the case.
“We are investigating a murder case which occurred at number 14997 Gimboki Phase 3, Dangamvura where a man stabbed his wife four times with a spear,” said Muzondo.
The deceased is Rita Kanoyangwa (39).
The two were sitting in the dining room when Mukono started accusing Kanoyangwa of cheating on him. An altercation ensued and Mukono went into the bedroom where he armed himself with a half-metre long spear. He struck Kanoyangwa four times while their children watched.
Kanoyangwa suffered wounds to the lower abdomen, right thigh, left elbow and right rib cage and the accused ran away after committing the crime.
The children called Kanoyangwa’s brother Ronnie who resides in Chikanga and he rushed the deceased to Victoria Chitepo Hospital where she was pronounced dead on admission.
Muzondo said Police is appealing for information that could lead to the arrest of Mukono.
