MUTARE- Zifa Eastern Region Divison One league suspended  this weekend’s Week  12 fixtures to allow  Surrey FC  to catch up with the rest of the teams.

Only two matches will be played this Saturday.

This was confirmed by the regional vice-chairman Wisdom Simba.

Melfort based side Pro Melfort yesterday played Chiredzi Stars while Surrey played Manica Diamonds Juniors.

The match pitting Melfort and Chiredzi Stars was supposed to be the season’s opener but failed to kick-off after bulk of Chiredzi Stars  FC players tested positive to Covid-19.

On the other hand the Surrey-Manica Diamonds Juniors  match was supposed to be match number three but Surrey’s budget was not yet approved.

“We have put other games on hold. This is for this weekend only so that we allow Surrey   to catch up with the rest of the teams. Surrey had administrative issues when we started the league. Their company had no football budget for 2021. Their budget was only approved in January while we started the league in December 2021,” said former Buffaloes FC defender.

Surrey FC have played a total of five games. Out of the five games played, they have managed to collect 7 points after registering 2 wins, a draw and 2 losses.

Surrey will play midweek fixtures when the league resumes next week.https://chipingetimes.co.zw/
