ZAKA – Gutu High head, Mirirai Mutanda has been transferred from the school which is one of the best in Masvingo Province barely a month after an incident in which boarders slept out in the open because parents had not paid fees in time.

The Mirror could not get the exact reasons why Mutanda who produced some of the best academic results in the country was transferred. However, sources said he was blamed for throwing out the students into the open over fees.

Mutanda was moved to Jichidza High in Zaka which rarely makes it into Masvingo’s top 10 high schools. His transfer is with effect from February 1.

Reformed Church in Zimbabwe (RCZ) General Secretary, Reverend Tafadzwa Masimba confirmed the development to The Mirror. He said that Mutanda has swapped with Jichidza head, Thompson Charambira.

The Mirror also managed to get another confirmation through Charambira’s memo to parents.

“It was a pleasure working with you. We celebrated together in success and consoled each other in difficult situations. Support the incoming head just as you supported me,” reads Charambira’s memo.

Gutu High and Jichidza are both RCZ boarding schools located in Masvingo Province.
