CHIMANIMANI -The Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services re-launched the mobile bio-scope in a move aiming to bridge the rural and urban information gap.

Speaking at the re-launch of the Bio-scope in Kopa, Chimanimani recently, Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Senator Monica Mutsvangwa said the second republic is investing in the dissemination of information through Bio-scopes which broadcast content that enlightens the lives of the community.
She said local content producers benefit from the bio-scope programme as they will sell their content to the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe(BAZ).

“The Bio-scope content is here to entertain, inform and educate our communities through real-life stories, for example, content on Anti-Human Trafficking, drug and substance abuse, and Agriculture.
The Bio-scope is also a platform of communication that should connect and bring our communities together,” she said
“I am also challenging local content creators to create content and bring it forward for screening by the bio-scope team. It is a source of revenue for local content creators who can create educational skits and dramas on locally relevant content,” she added.

Speaking at the same event, the Member of Parliament for Chimanimani East Joshua Sacco welcomed the move and said the programme would benefit entertainment-starved villagers.
“Our rural populace are entertainment starved due to various factors such as unavailability of power, no radios and television or internet connectivity programmes. We hope the programme will bridge the information gap between urban dwellers and villagers,” said Sacco.

Chief Ndima said the re-introduction of the bio-scope will help the youths to abstain from drug abuse.
“The community has been greatly affected. The youths are abusing drugs. At least the coming of this programme with content that teaches them to abstain,” said Chief Ndima.
