MUTARE-A Mutare man has died after being punched once on the face by a colleague following a misunderstanding over storage fees.
Manicaland Police Spokesperson Inspector Nobert Muzondo confirmed the incident that happened on Saturday around 5 pm to Chipinge Times.
He said Peter Bornface (36) of Mucheni Village under Chief Chitanga punched Tichaona Masibhera (38) of Nderere Village under Chief Marange once on the face he fell unconscious. He woke up a few minutes later bleeding from the nose and was taken into his bedroom to rest. Masibhera was found dead the following morning inside his bed. Mucheni and Masibhera are both alleged illegal diamond dealers.
Circumstances are that Bornface went to Masibhera’s place to take a motor vehicle he had left there early this year after it developed a mechanical fault.
Masibhera allegedly demanded storage fees from Bornface and the two got into an argument. Mucheni punched Masibhera once on the face and he fell down unconscious.
He regained consciousness after several minutes and was bleeding from the nose. He was taken to his bedroom to rest by Johannesburg Chadambuka (38) and Wanted Mutsete (48). Chadambuka came to check on him in the morning and found Masibhera dead.
A Police report was filed and Bornface was arrested. No visible injuries were noted on Masibhera’s body and he was taken to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital awaiting post mortem.
