Masvingo businessman Murimira is no more

MASVINGO – Prominent Masvingo businessman, Patrick Murimira (70) is no more.
Murimira, a former manager at Bata Shoe Company and a devout Catholic ran a string of shops dotted in the province under the brand Pahel. Some of the shops were Chivi, Ngundu, Sarahuru Neshuro, Mataga , Matibhi, and other areas.
Murimira breathed his last at Masvingo 24-Hr-Medical Centre in Masvingo at 8:30 am yesterday after a week-long battle with diabetes following an operation in Harare.
Mourners are gathered at 27152 Zimre Park in Masvingo and he will be buried at Mangwandi Cemetery on Saturday. Murimira who was born near Mutero Mission in Gutu died barely eight weeks after burying his son who died in South Africa.
The series of tragedies hit the family so hard that one of his sons was at the airport in SA ready to fly back to his base in Australia after burying the sibling when he was told to abandon the trip because his father had died.
Murimira was rushed to Masvingo 24 Hr Medical after collapsing yesterday morning.
He was born on July 7, 1952 at Mutero Mission in Gutu and he did his studies at Mutero Mission Primary and Gokomere Secondary schools.
He worked as a Police officer before joining Bata Shoe Company as a branch manager. He was stationed at several stores including in Bindura and Chinhoyi. He retired from the shoe company while serving in Masvingo.
Murimira then began building his business empire with clothing and retail shops in Chivi and Ngundu.
He is survived by his wife, four children and seven grandchildren.
“He was a hardworking man who focused on improving his business. Murimira was always jovial and never skipped a church service. The community is poorer without him,” said a mourner who spoke to The Mirror.
