Masvingo City worker jailed 9 years for raping girl (14)

MASVINGO – A 51-year-old Masvingo City Council worker has been condemned to nine years in jail by Masvingo Regional Magistrate Bishard Chineka for raping a 14- year- old-girl.

Lawrence Pedzisa (51) who worked at Rujeko Pump Station raped a Grade 7 pupil who lived in the same street in Rujeko with him.

Magistrate Chineka suspended two years of the sentence on condition that Pedzisa will not commit a similar offense in the next five years.

Prosecutor Ruvimbo Makoni said on November 10, 2021 Pedzisa who had worked for council for 27 years persuaded the girl to come to his work place at the pump station in Rujeko and the accused had sexual intercourse with the girl without her consent.

The matter came to light after the girl told her guardians about the case and Pedzisa was arrested.https://chipingetimes.co.zw
