Masvingo’s new cemetery to open in 9 months

Masvingo – Masvingo’s two cemeteries will both fill up before the end of next year and the City Council will commission a new cemetery some 12km to the west of the CBD.

Town Clerk Engineer Edward Mukaratirwa told The Mirror in an interview that work on the new cemetery has already started and it’s sitting on a six hectare piece of land.

He said that Lawn Cemetery has already filled up and now council is burying people on a small piece of land unsuitable for graves. He however, said that this piece will be filled up before the end of the year.

Mangwandi which is to the north of the City is expected to fill up by the end of 2023 hence the planned commissioning of the new cemetery by mid next year.

“Unlike the two cemeteries, the new cemetery will have infrastructure including an office. There will be proper roads to access the cemetery and within the cemetery,” said Mukaratirwa.https://chipingetimes.co.zw
