Mirror appoints Group Sports Editor

Masvingo – Masvingo Mirror has appointed Fungai Munyoro as  its group Sports Editor with effect from August 1, 2022.

She becomes the first ever Sports Editor at Masvingo Mirror and she will be responsible for the group’s three titles; The Mirror, Chipinge Times and Two Nations.

Munyoro who joined The Mirror in April 2021 as a reporter at Chipinge Times proved a versatile and dependable reporter resulting in her promotion to Bureau Chief for Chipinge Times. Her slant towards the sports beat has always been glaring including her ability to cover minority sports like cricket and golf.

Her responsibility is to plan sports diaries, collect and edit stories from all reporters. She will work with the editor and the production editor.

Munyoro will relocate from Chipinge to Masvingo as soon as a suitable bureau chief is appointed for Chipinge Times.

Munyoro has worked with The Manica Post as a sports correspondent and she has a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies Degree.

Mirror consultant said it is pleasing to see female journalists excelling in male dominated fields like sports journalism.
