Mushayamunda tourney slated for October

MASVINGO-This year’s edition of the Mushayamunda Development Trust tournament is slated for October 7, 2023, at Mukanga Primary School in Bikita.
The tournament will feature 20 primary schools soccer, netball and volleyball teams drawn from Bikita, Zaka and Chiredzi.
Tournament Coordinator Joseph Vhengere confirmed the development to The Mirror.
He said they have invited three Zaka schools, six Chiredzi schools and 11 schools from Bikita
“We are inviting all sports lovers to this year’s tournament. We invited 20 schools to this year’s edition and they will tussle for the trophy.
“Every school will get a participation prize and the floating trophy will be given to the overall winner,” he said.
The tournament is sponsored by the Mashayamunda Family Development Trust which hails from Mashoko, Bikita.
The Mushayamunda brothers, Donald, Dereck, Dennis and Daniel are based in Ohio, United States of America (USA).
The tournament began in 2006 and it helps scout sports talent in the community and works closely with the Church of Christ Church.
The Trust is also doing philanthropic work in the three districts as drilling boreholes in marginalized communities and providing orphans with stationery and sanitary wear.
“Last year’s edition took place at Tapudzai Primary School in Zaka. Mashoko Primary won the boys’ soccer team trophy.
“Manhenga and Mukazi primary schools from Chiredzi scooped gold in netball and volleyball respectively,” added Vhengere.
