Mvuma man gets 1 year for possessing crystal methamphetamine

MVUMA—A 28-year old man from Mvuma has been sentenced to one year in prison after he was found in possession of various drugs including 26 sachets of crystal methamphetamine and 582g of dagga.

Mvuma Magistrate, Ayah Kwagwere suspended four months of Innocent Jaison’s sentence on condition of good behavior and on account that the accused person does not commit a similar offence in the next five years.

Jaison who resides at 72 Athens Mine in Mvuma was arrested on February 8, 2023 by Police after being found in possession of dangerous drugs.

Prosecutor Takudzwa Mutyavaviri said on February 7 at 10 am Mvuma Police was on patrol enforcing operation, ‘No to dangerous drugs and illicit substances’. The officers got information that the accused person deals in dangerous drugs.

On February 8 at 7 am the officers went to the accused person’s place of residence with a search warrant. The accused was found with 582g of dagga hidden in an unused fridge and other substances used in connection with production of dangerous drugs like crystal methamphetamine packed in 26 sachets hidden under a bed.

The accused was also found with apparatus that are used for processing dangerous drugs namely 4x100ml of empty bottles of broncleer, 22 empty sachets of Crystal methamphetamine and a silver digital portable scale which he used to weigh the drugs.
