CHIMANIMANI -Debutants Rusitu Tigers, who have found their footing in the Eastern Region Soccer League (ERSL), are hoping to ride on the momentum gained from their win over Manica Diamonds Under-19 FC as they target a series of good results in the league.
On Sunday, Rusitu Tigers FC will be at home for a date with Mutoko-based side JM Bhusha FC at the backdrop of their morale-boosting two-nil win over Manica Diamonds U-19 FC last Saturday courtesy of goals by Moses Okello and Kelvin Sithole.
The Chimanimani-based side has played six games and won three, drew one and lost two. They have amassed 10 points from a possible 18.
Coach Munashe ‘Skeelo’ Tafirenyika said his team plays attacking football.
Commenting on the last week’s victory, Skeelo said his team played well and utilised the chances they created. He hopes his boys will continue working hard.
“Our approach is simple. We are an attacking team, so we will attack our opponents until the end of 90mins.
“It was quite a good game, and we utilised the chances. Manica Diamond U-19 are a good side. We became the better side of the day and came out victorious away from home,” he said.
Rusitu Tigers FC was promoted into ERSL after winning the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Manicaland Division 2 league playoffs. They became the first team to bring Division 1 football to the mountainous town.
The team started In 2021 with Under-20 school boys as a community team aiming at providing entertainment to the community. It then enrolled some players from local social clubs before joining Division 2.
