ZVISHAVANE-Ruvimbo Central Region Division One League is set to commence this week. The main match is between Loss Control FC and the returning Shabanie Mine FC.

The commencing dates were confirmed to Mirror Sport by the acting vice chairperson Thomas Marambanyika. He highlighted that some teams pulled out at the eleventh hour due to financial constraints.

The opening fixtures have Shabanie Mine FC facing Loss Control FC in a Zvishavane Derby. The season runners-up TelOne FC face the Banket Mine FC. Gweru-based army side Chapungu will play against new boys Amazon FC.

Marambanyika said the off-season dates will be communicated later as the organizers are still negotiating with potential sponsors for cup games.

“The season will start this week. We are still negotiating with sponsors for cup games. We will communicate our off-season dates when we are done. A total of 15 clubs paid affiliation fees. Sharks Masters withdrew on Saturday after failing to register players citing financial challenges.
“This means we will have 14 teams in the league. Colombina FC, Paramount FC and Vubachikwe FC also pulled out. Note that the late withdrawal of the clubs has affected their timely replacements,” he said.
