MUTARE – A 38-year-old Sakubva man in Mutare committed suicide on Monday by drinking poison.
Manicaland Police Spokesperson Inspector Nobert Muzondo confirmed the death of Jethro Maguta of Old Location, Sakubva in Mutare. It is understood that he was drunk when he committed suicide.
“I want to advise members of the public to seek counselling from third parties like pastors or Police’s Victim Friendly Unit (VFU), or elderly people in the community when they have problems that cause stress to them,” he said.
Maguta was drinking beer with his brother James Maguta (49) at their homestead in Sakubva at 10am. The deceased allegedly bought termic rat poison from an unknown vendor. After their beer drink, James left for work leaving Jethro alone.
James returned at 730am the following day to find Jethro sleeping at the back of the house and groaning in pain. The deceased told his brother that he had taken termic rat killer.
An ambulance was called and Jethro died at Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital.https://chipingetimes.co.zw
