Warrant of arrest for ‘Zanu PF Gutu youth’

GUTU-Magistrate Mandlenkosi Ndlovu has issued a warrant of arrest for two Zanu PF activists for defaulting court. The duo allegedly assaulted Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) members last year.

The warrant of arrest for the Sarukore brothers, Tawanda and Josephat was issued on Monday. They allegedly assaulted Tinotenda Makumbe (20) and his brother Jervas Makumbe (45) on November 11, 2022.

The Makumbes reported the matter at Gutu Police Station the next day but were turned away. A Zanu PF supporter Deadly Poronario then reported the Makumbes for assaulting him on December 6, 2022, and they were arrested and brought to court.

He alleged that they assaulted him on November 11, 2022 at Michigan Bar, Mpandawana Growth Point for wearing Zanu PF regalia.
Magistrate Ndlovu acquitted the Makumbes after a full trial. He ruled that Poronario’s evidence was fabricated.
The Makumbes were represented by Martin Mureri of Matutu Mureri Legal Practitioners.
